Open PhotoShop, I use ps 7.0 in the tutorial. Open the raster file that you want to convert to a vector image.

Now select brightness/contrast.

Play with this until you get the area that needs to be vectorized to have the best single color outline.

Select the brush tool and selct the color of the part of the image that you are going to convert with the eye dropper, in the example I used white. Clean up the image so that it is all one single color.

Select the magic wand and select the area that you want to convert, play with the settings until you have the best outline for it.

Copy your selection.

Select file->new

After you have opened the new image, paste the outline you coppied from the original image and it should like like the image below. You will see an outline, should look like the image you want to cut.

You want to select the brush tool while you still have your selection outlined, select black and color the selected are black.

Now save your new image as a jpg file.

Now open your favorite vectorizing program, I recommend TotalVectorize(search for it on google, has a free trial and its only $30). Save your image as an eps.

Open the eps in your favorite vector editing program, I prefer CorelDraw, and fine tune it. I have never used a converter that is perfect, you will need to fine tune it to your liking to get the best cutable graphic. |
